The special counsel team, led by Min Joong-ki, is persistently attempting to search the headquarters of the main opposition People Power Party (PPP) in western Seoul. The investigation is focused on allegations that the Unification Church attempted to influence the results of the PPP's leadership race.

The investigation aims to secure the People Power Party's roster to compare it with the Unification Church's membership list, in an effort to confirm the allegations about mass sign-ups of church members. The allegations involve Unification Church members joining the PPP en masse ahead of the party's leadership race in 2023.

The investigation is also concerned with corruption allegations surrounding the former President Yoon Suk Yeol's confidant, Rep. Kweon Seong-dong. The allegations suggest that the church tried to favor Rep. Kweon Seong-dong, who was once seen as a key confidant of the former president. Notably, Rep. Kweon ultimately dropped out of the PPP's leadership race.

The special counsel team suspects that Kim Keon Hee, the former first lady, made a request to a former Unification Church official through a shaman in November 2022. However, the former Unification Church official suspected by the special prosecution of transmitting Kim Keon Hee's request regarding possible mass registration of Unification Church members to the PPP has not been identified in the provided search results.

The team attempted to search the People Power Party's headquarters on Aug. 13 and 18 but failed due to opposition from party members. Party members argue that the team is attempting to seize large-scale personal data. Despite these unsuccessful attempts, the investigation is still ongoing.

The allegations about the Unification Church attempting to influence the results of the PPP's leadership race continue to be a focus of the investigation. The investigation is also concerned with securing the party's membership list to compare it with the Unification Church's membership list. The aim is to confirm the allegations about the mass sign-ups of church members.

As the investigation continues, it is expected that more information will come to light, shedding light on the alleged attempts by the Unification Church to influence the PPP's leadership race and the potential involvement of Rep. Kweon Seong-dong and former first lady Kim Keon Hee.
