Attempted murder suspect captured following a successful hunt
In a series of events announced by the Public Prosecutor's Office and Police Cologne on September 12, 2025, five suspects have been identified and either arrested or surrendered in relation to a violent attack on a 56-year-old man.
The arrests and searches took place early in the morning of September 12, with the police forces targeting apartments in the districts of Nippes and Müngersdorf in Cologne. Private video footage was evaluated during the investigations leading to these events.
Two 19-year-old suspects were the primary targets of the arrest warrants, with another 19-year-old arrested during the searches. Two more suspects, aged 19 and 20, surrendered to the police at a police station and the Cologne District Court.
The arrest warrants were issued in relation to the case of attempted murder. The announcement was made in the form of Addendum to Press Release No. 2 of September 7, 2025.
The younger of the two suspects arrested on that day has not had their name or pseudonym publicly disclosed in the available reports. The other suspects have yet to be identified publicly.
The surrenders were made in the presence of their lawyers, and the searches were conducted based on a court order. On September 12, 2025, police forces searched several apartments in the districts of Nippes and Müngersdorf.
On Tuesday, September 16, police searched apartments in Cologne-Nippes and Rhineland-Palatinate, further expanding the investigation.
