Attack in J&K Intended to Cause Communal Discord; Central Government Praises Public for Thwarting Scheme
New Delhi: In the wake of the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that took the lives of 26 innocent souls, India strikes back with precision missile strikes codenamed Operation Sindoor. The attack, aimed at sowing discord among the nation, was foiled thanks to the swift action of the Indian government and its people.
Addressing a press conference today, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri admitted that the manner of the attack was designed to create communal tension, but thankfully, such efforts were in vain. Twenty-five tourists and a Kashmiri pony ride operator were brutally murdered in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley on April 22. The terrorists asked their victims about their religion before taking their lives, but Indians from all walks of life stood united against such hatred. This resilience in the face of adversity has become emblematic of the Indian spirit.
"The objective of the attack was to undermine the normalcy that has returned to Jammu and Kashmir. The growth and development in the Union Territory have been a thorn in the side of terrorist outfits. The Pahalgam attack, unprecedented in its brutality, was aimed at reversing these gains," Mr Misri explains.
Following the attack, a group called The Resistance Front claimed responsibility. This organization is a proxy for Lashkar-e-Taiba, one of the many terrorist outfits that operate in the region.
In a rare show of unity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation in his Mann ki Baat address, urging citizens to stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the fight against terrorism. "We have to demonstrate strong willpower as a nation. Today, the world is watching," he said.

Himanshi Narwal, a newly married woman who lost her husband in the attack, broke down in tears as she pleaded for peace. "We only wish for peace—nothing else," she said.
Displaying unity like never before, Kashmir observed a complete shutdown in protest of the terror attack. The Valley mourned its guests and its son, Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who gave his life trying to snatch a terrorist's weapon. Shopkeepers and hoteliers marched through the streets, chanting "Long Live India" and declaring their unwavering Indian identity.

According to government sources, the precision strikes claimed the lives of over 70 terrorists and left more than 60 injured. Efforts were made to minimize collateral damage.
15 days after the attack, the Indian military carried out 24 missile strikes at nine locations in Pakistan and PoK, lasting around 25 minutes. The objective was to deliver a powerful message to the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack and to deter future acts of terrorism on Indian soil.
