Atlético Madrid targets Bayern’s Leon Goretzka in bold winter transfer push

Atlético Madrid is pushing to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka. The Spanish club sees his contract situation as a chance to secure him at a lower cost. Several other top European teams are also tracking the German international.

Goretzka’s current deal runs until 2026, but a transfer could still happen in January. Bayern Munich’s leadership has signalled they may sell, though a summer move remains more likely.

Goretzka has become a key figure at Bayern, but Atlético believes his experience and leadership could strengthen their midfield. His ability to control games and dictate play makes him an attractive target. However, his importance to the German side may make negotiations difficult.

Bayern’s openness to selling has sparked interest from clubs across Europe. Juventus, Napoli, Sevilla, Manchester United, Arsenal, Fenerbahçe, and Galatasaray have all shown varying levels of interest. While a January transfer is possible, most sources expect a move in summer 2026 when his contract expires.

Atlético, though, is actively exploring a winter deal. The club views Goretzka’s contract status as leverage for favourable terms. A fresh challenge in La Liga could also tempt the player, who has spent years in the Bundesliga.

Bayern’s willingness to negotiate adds weight to the speculation. The German champions have not ruled out an early exit, though they would likely prefer to keep him until the end of the season.

Goretzka’s future remains uncertain, with multiple clubs monitoring his situation. Atlético Madrid is among the most aggressive suitors, hoping to capitalise on his contract timing. A decision on his next move is expected in the coming months, with a summer transfer still the most probable outcome.
