Atlanta United's Garth Lagerwey Takes Leave for Health

Atlanta United's president and CEO, Garth Lagerwey, has taken a leave of absence to focus on his health. He is grateful for the club's support during this challenging time.

Lagerwey, who joined Atlanta United in November 2022, previously served as the Seattle Sounders' general manager and president of soccer for eight years. He announced his leave in July, with an encouraging prognosis for a full recovery. Although details about his cancer diagnosis and treatment are not publicly available, Lagerwey is appreciative of the club's support.

During his absence, the day-to-day operations of the club will be overseen by Chief Soccer Officer Chris Henderson, Vice President of Strategy Dimitrios Efstathiou, and Chief Business Officer Sarah Kate Noftsinger. There is no specified return date for Lagerwey.
