Atlanta Braves secure a 9-4 victory over the Washington Nationals, with Ozuna responsible for driving in three runs.

The Atlanta Braves clinched a thrilling win against the Washington Nationals in a closely contested match on Tuesday, September 19, 2025.

In the sixth inning, the Braves took the lead with a series of impressive plays. Marcell Ozuna began the rally with a single to right field, driving in Ozzie Albies and Drake Baldwin to give the Braves a 3-2 advantage. Nacho Alvarez Jr. followed suit with an RBI single, extending the lead to 4-3.

Baldwin earlier contributed to the Braves' scoring with an RBI double in the same inning, driving home Ronald Acuña Jr.

Matt Olson, who has been in top form lately, added another solo home run to his tally in the fifth inning, marking his 28th of the season. Olson has been on a roll, hitting five home runs in his last six games and driving in 11 runs during the same period.

The Nationals attempted to challenge some of the plays, including Ozuna's run and Alvarez's RBI single, but to no avail. The Nationals' Clayton Beeter allowed two earned runs in two-thirds of an inning during the sixth inning, contributing to their defeat.

Hurston Waldrep (5-1) started for the Braves, impressing with eight strikeouts in five innings. The Braves will start RHP Bryce Elder (7-10, 5.56 ERA) against the Detroit Tigers on Friday.

The Nationals will have a day off on Thursday before their game against the Mets. As of now, the Nationals have not announced their starter for their series opener against the New York Mets on Friday. The Nationals' Dylan Crews, Robert Hassell III, and James Wood had RBIs for the Washington Nationals in the fifth inning. In the eighth inning, Ozuna added another run to the Braves' total with a double to right, driving home Ha-Seong Kim.

The Braves will also have a day off on Thursday before their game against the Tigers. The Atlanta Braves look forward to continuing their winning streak in their upcoming match against the Detroit Tigers.
