The image shows a drawing of a factory with a large machine in the middle of it, surrounded by machines, pipes, a door, a trolley, a table, a chair, a board with text on it, windows, and lights hanging from the ceiling. The text on the board reads "American Foundry Equipment Co, Indiana".

AtkinsRéalis and Nvidia partner to build nuclear-powered AI factories

AtkinsRéalis Group Inc. and Nvidia are teaming up to explore nuclear-powered AI factories. The partnership combines engineering expertise with advanced computing to meet rising global demand. Both companies aim to create digital models of AI infrastructure before building them physically.

The collaboration comes as demand for AI infrastructure grows faster than the available power supply. AtkinsRéalis brings deep experience in nuclear projects, including the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment in Canada and the Flamanville plant in France. The firm has also worked on decommissioning projects across Europe and North America.

AtkinsRéalis recently reported an 81% year-over-year profit increase, reaching $95 million in the latest quarter. CEO Ian Edwards sees artificial intelligence as a major driver for the company's future growth and efficiency. The partnership will focus on integrating Nvidia's technologies with nuclear-powered data centres to support large-scale AI operations.

The initiative aims to develop digital twins of AI infrastructure before physical construction begins. AtkinsRéalis' nuclear expertise and Nvidia's computing power will shape the project's direction. The goal is to address the energy challenges posed by expanding AI demands.
