Atiku Abubakar Accuses EFCC of Persecution: Kazaure's Arrest Investigation

Making headlines is the recent arrest of ex-House of Representatives member Muhammad Kazaure by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), an event that has stirred a storm of controversy for reasons yet unknown.

According to our sources, Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), threw a harsh jab at the EFCC, deeming its action as a sickening act of political suppression.

In a scathing statement over the weekend, Atiku noted that Kazaure's criticism of the current President Bola Tinubu's administration is suspected to be the cause of his mysterious detention by the EFCC.

He emphasized that the EFCC is obligated to dishes out reasons for the arrest of any Nigerian--yet, up till now, no justification has been offered.

This unjustified arrest is a grim reminder of EFCC's corrupt tactic of using trumped-up allegations of corruption and financial crimes to suffocate dissenters, asserts Atiku.

Echoing his sentiments, Kazaure has been previously detained in similar fashion, with no formal charges or explanations given, up until a massive uproar forced the EFCC to release him.

The silence of the EFCC regarding Kazaure's arrest is a clear sign of their contempt for transparency, justice, and the Constitution, stated Atiku. Urging them to uphold the rule of law, he pointed out that any detainee must be formally charged or released promptly.

Atiku also highlighted that the EFCC's dishonorable behavior of suppressing citizens who voice their opposition to the Tinubu administration is a prime example of the administration's hypocrisy. Instead, they smugly make cosy deals with political cronies tainted by corruption, while brutally targeting critics.

To the people of Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa, and Yankwashi federal constituency, and to the whole nation, history will not forget, he concluded.

Interestingly, Muhammad Kazaure was a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and represented the aforementioned constituency from 2015 to 2023.

Kazaure has been known for his courageous and forthright stand on issues such as insecurity and corruption, adding credibility to Atiku's accusations. Particularly, he vocally questioned former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Emefiele, who faced allegations of siphoning off massive stamp duty collections.

These events raise serious concerns about the rule of law, transparency, and political meddling in Nigeria's anti-corruption agencies.
