Athletics: Timm Nicklisch and Moris Fischer emerge victorious at the Hamburg championship

On Saturday, 8th June, in the vibrant city of Hamburg, Germany, the Hausbruch-Neugrabener Turnerschaft (HNT) made a strong showing at the Block competitions, a crucial part of the gymnastics events.

In the "Sprint/Jump" block for the youth U16/U14 category, Timm Nicklisch clinched the Hamburg championship title with an impressive score of 2492 points. This victory marked a significant achievement for the young athlete, who has been honing his skills under the guidance of an unnamed coach who trains the U16/U14 youth teams within HNT.

In another impressive display, Moris Fischer secured the Hamburg championship title in the "Run" block for the M13 age group, scoring 2307 points. Fischer, too, is a product of the HNT youth development programme.

The Block competitions encompass five different disciplines, each with its own focus. While some blocks emphasise running, others focus on jumping, and yet others on throwing. In the "Throw" block for the youth U16/U14 category, Sebastian Arruda of HNT finished second with 1975 points, narrowly missing out on the top spot.

This successful day for HNT didn't just stop at the victories. Arruda's second place in the "Throw" block was mirrored by another second place finish, this time for Timm Nicklisch in the "Sprint/Jump" block for the M14 age group. Nicklisch also competed in the youth U16/U14 category, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to the sport.

Fischer's victory in the "Run" block for the M13 age group was also a testament to his hard work and dedication, as he competed in the youth U16/U14 category alongside his peers.

These victories and second place finishes marked a successful day for HNT, further solidifying their reputation as a strong force in the world of gymnastics. The team's commitment to nurturing young talent and their impressive performances on the day are a testament to their dedication to the sport.
