Athletic star Fred Kerley, once a renowned world sprinting champion, is poised to join Enhanced Games – a competition platform with no drug testing.
The upcoming Enhanced Games, set to debut in May in Las Vegas, is set to host a star-studded lineup of athletes, with Fred Kerley, the former world sprint champion, becoming the first track athlete and the first American to join the no-doping testing event.
Kerley, who won the 100 meters at the world championships in 2022, has been embroiled in controversy in recent months. He is currently serving a ban for missed doping tests, a situation he finds himself in due to what he calls 'whereabouts failures'. His lawyers claim he is innocent of the charges against him. However, there is no public information about the name of the lawyer or law firm representing Kerley in his defense against allegations of violence against women in Florida.
In January, Kerley was charged in Florida with punching a woman, a hurdler who also competed in the Olympics. The alleged incident occurred on Jan. 2. Despite these allegations, Kerley remains undeterred. In a statement, he stated that joining the Enhanced Games now gives him the opportunity to dedicate all his energy to pushing his limits and becoming the fastest human to ever live.
The Enhanced Games offers a lucrative prize pool for its participants. Each event comes with a prize of $500,000, with first place in each event receiving an additional $250,000. There is also a $1 million bonus for breaking world records in the 100-meter sprint (track) or 50-meter freestyle (swimming).
The Enhanced Games has also signed Paris Olympic silver-medal swimmer Ben Proud, adding another high-profile name to its roster. The Games will feature track, swimming, and weightlifting contests, promising a thrilling spectacle for sports fans.
Kerley, with two medals at the Olympics - silver in Tokyo in 2021 and bronze in Paris in 2023, will undoubtedly be a force to reckon with in the Enhanced Games. As the event approaches, all eyes will be on him to see if he can break world records and claim the top prizes.
