City of Nettetal Announces Sports Funding for Club Renovations (2027-2031)

Athletic Ideas or Innovations

The City of Nettetal has unveiled a comprehensive plan to fund the renovation of its artificial turf pitches, with the aim of ensuring the longest possible usage time for these heavily frequented facilities. The city's strategy, which extends up to the 2030s, will see funding opportunities made available from 2027, with specific renovation schedules in place for various clubs.

Funding Schedule

Funding applications will be accepted annually from January 1 to March 31. Approved funds will be disbursed by July 1 of each year, with projects planned and executed within the calendar year of approval. This structured approach provides a clear timeline for the renovations.

Funding Cap

The city has set a maximum funding cap of €50,000 per club per year, with a total annual allocation of €500,000. This funding covers up to 70% of eligible renovation costs, with clubs expected to contribute at least 30% from other sources. Multi-year funding is possible, but each club's total allocation will not exceed €150,000 over the five-year period (2027-2031).

Requirements for Application

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be registered sports clubs within the Nettetal city limits. Projects must relate to facility renovations or upgrades, such as clubhouses, playing fields, or sports equipment infrastructure. Applicants are required to submit a detailed project plan, including cost estimates, timelines, and proof of additional funding sources. Compliance with all local building codes and environmental regulations is also necessary.

Additionally, clubs must demonstrate active community engagement or youth program integration. A final report and audited financial statement are required within three months after project completion. The city will also review any additional needs or costs, which the respective club must prove together with the SSV, and are subject to political approval.

Pitch Renovation Schedule

The particularly worn-out pitch of SC Union Nettetal is planned to be renovated first in 2027. Schaag is scheduled for renovation in 2028, Hinsbeck and Kaldenkirchen in 2029/30, and Leuth in 2031.

Dominik Hoffmann, head of the Family and Education department, has explained that the city aims to provide early planning security for the clubs to generate the funds within their own structures. The funds will only be released when they are within the budget, and the city expects budget reserves to be necessary for the renovations.

The city is checking whether and to what extent funding is available, and the funds will be used solely for the renovation of the artificial turf pitches, not for additional facilities or buildings. The city expects a good solution in the interest of the clubs and the sports city of Nettetal.
