Athletic duo, including a gymnast and a trap shooter, honored in the 47th induction of the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame.
The Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame (KSHOF) is set to honour four distinguished individuals, each with significant sports contributions both in Kentucky and nationally, on September 23, 2025, at Freedom Hall in Louisville.
The KSHOF Class of 2025 includes Randall Cobb, Tayshaun Prince, Carole Liedtke, and Nora Martin Ross. This prestigious group was selected by a committee of 15 sports media professionals from throughout the state.
Randall Cobb, an All-American football player at the University of Kentucky, is renowned for setting all-purpose yardage records. As a versatile player, he excelled as a wide receiver, wildcat quarterback, punt and kick returner, and placeholder. Cobb holds UK and SEC single-season records with 2,396 all-purpose yards and finished his college career as UK's all-time touchdown leader with 37. After being drafted in the second round by the Green Bay Packers in 2011, he played 13 years professionally in the NFL, earning his degree from the University of Kentucky in 2016.
Tayshaun Prince, a two-time All-American basketball player at Kentucky from 1999 to 2002, also made a major impact. As a key player, he helped lead the Wildcats to three NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and the Elite Eight. Prince was named SEC Player of the Year and SEC Tournament MVP in 2001. Drafted in the first round by the Detroit Pistons in 2002, he played 14 professional NBA seasons, winning an NBA title and an Olympic gold medal (2008 Beijing Games). After retirement, he transitioned to an NBA executive role.
Carole Liedtke, a Louisville native and former University of Louisville gymnast, is being recognised for her significant contributions to gymnastics both within Kentucky and internationally. As a coach and longtime international gymnastics judge, she has made a lasting impact on the sport.
Nora Martin Ross, one of the most accomplished female trap shooters in U.S. history, is another inductee. Her impact and achievements in trap shooting have been widely recognised.
Since 2018, the Louisville Sports Commission has owned and operated the KSHOF. The commission, a Kentucky-based non-profit, aims to attract, create, host, and operate sporting events and activities that enhance the quality of life in Kentucky.
Freedom Hall, home of the KSHOF's official enshrinement gallery, houses a rich sports history. Ticket information for the KSHOF Class of 2025 induction ceremony can be obtained by calling 502-587-6742.
Each new inductee adds to the legacy of Freedom Hall, serving as an inspiration for future generations. The KSHOF was founded in 1963 to honour athletes and sports figures who are Kentucky natives or have made a significant impact in their sports-related field in Kentucky. All votes by the KSHOF Selection Committee were independently tabulated by regional accounting firm Dean Dorton, one of Kentucky's largest accounting and advisory firms, with offices in Louisville, Lexington, and Raleigh, N.C.
