West Delaware High School Gears Up for Fall Sports Season
As high school football, volleyball, and cross country teams across the state kick off their practices, West Delaware High School is preparing for an exciting 2021 season.
Last season, the West Delaware Football team suffered a combined loss of 23 points, finishing with a 5-4 record. The team will have a preseason scrimmage against Western Dubuque before starting their season on Brown Field against Marion on August 29th. Unfortunately, 21 seniors graduated from the team, but several seniors gained valuable experience throughout the season. The team had a commendable run, finishing 39-7 in the Class 3A state semifinal.
On the volleyball court, Brett Mather, who is beginning his 30th season as the head coach, will lead the Hawks. The team's season is set to begin at the Independence Invite on August 30th. Regrettably, there is no specific information available about the team's performance last season or any graduations from the team.
For those interested in staying updated on West Delaware High School sports, the annual West Delaware Fall Sports Preview Show will take place at the Silver Bowl on Brown Field. KMCH Sports, a local broadcaster, hosts this event, featuring coverage and interviews related to West Delaware sports on Mix 94.7 and their digital platforms.
If you're looking for more historical information about the 2021 fall sports season, you may find it through archived local sports coverage on outlets like KMCH or the school’s athletic department records or websites. Public local newspaper archives or school newsletters from 2021 could also provide valuable insights.
The first official broadcast of the new season for West Delaware sports will be next Friday night with Sports Director Jon Swisher. Stay tuned for more updates and coverage as the season progresses!
