Taking Aim: Simone Biles Slams Riley Gaines Over Transgender Sports Ban

In a fiery tweet, the most decorated gymnast of all time, Simone Biles, blasted conservative activist and former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines. Biles slammed Gaines for her relentless pursuit to exclude transgender athletes from women's sports.

Gaines, who recently tied for fifth place with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA Swimming Championships, has since become a staunch opponent of transgender athletes in women's sports. Her controversial stance has led her to vilify transgender children and teens participating in women's sports.

In an unsettling tweet on Friday, Gaines hilariously mocked a children's softball team, condemning the moderators for turning off the post comments. "Comments off lol. To be expected when your star player is a boy," Gaines wrote.

Biles quickly hit back, calling out Gaines' toxic views and her alleged sour grapes due to losing a race. "You're truly sick, all this campaigning because you lost a race," Biles retorted bluntly. Biles continued her heated response, urging Gaines to support trans athletes and making sports inclusive instead of bullying them.

"Maybe she could compete in pommel horse and rings in 2028," Gaines fired back, insinuating that Biles should participate in men's gymnastics due to Biles' support for transgender athletes.

Ethical Dichotomy

Simone Biles vs Riley Gaines - Champions of Opposite Ends

Gaines gained prominence after a disappointing fifth-place finish at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Since then, she has dedicated herself to preventing transgender women athletes from competing in women's sports. She has testified before Congress, joined a lawsuit against the NCAA, and even founded an advocacy center focusing on what she believes to be 'fairness in women's sports.' Aligning herself with conservative political figures, Gaines has achieved media success despite minimal success within her sport.

On the other hand, Simone Biles has tirelessly advocated for athletes' well-being and mental health throughout her groundbreaking career. Championing mental health awareness following the 'Twisties' incident during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Biles has shifted the narrative and fought for accountability following the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal. As a survivor herself, Biles has utilized her voice to champion safe environments in women's sports.

In an ethical and ideological showdown, these two figures represent opposite ends. While Biles strives for inclusivity and fair competition, Gaines pushes for the exclusion of transgender athletes from women's sports.
