Aliisa Heiskanen, a Gatineau resident, claimed the top spot among women with an impressive time of 9:32:41. Meanwhile, Luke Evans, a Carleton University graduate, finished first overall with a remarkable time of 8:40:22, making him the champion of the Ironman Canada-Ottawa 2022.

The event attracted over 2,000 competitors, including Ottawa City Councillor Theresa Kavanagh, who completed the race with a time of 15:52:24. A group of family and friends also participated in memory of Sindy Hooper, who raised over $500,000 for cancer research at the Ottawa Hospital.

In a remarkable display of determination, Graeme Barber, an 82-year-old participant, completed the swim and bike portions of the race but did not finish the marathon. He swam for 1 hour, 55 minutes, and 12 seconds, biked for 8 hours, 32 minutes, and 19 seconds, and ran 17.9 kilometres in the marathon portion.
