In a proud moment for the Yakut community, two Kyrgyzstani athletes of Yakut origin, Sardana Trofimova and Ayaal Lazarev, have been recognised for their achievements at the Olympics.

The Paris Olympics saw Sardana Trofimova compete in athletics (marathon), finishing in 14th place. For her efforts, she received a monetary reward of 500,000 soms (approximately 500,000 rubles) and a car, shared with other Kyrgyz athletes as a group reward. The exact type of car received by Sardana was not disclosed.

Ayaal Lazarev, on the other hand, placed fifth in freestyle wrestling. His reward was a car and 1 million soms (approximately 1 million rubles), a higher sum compared to Sardana's. However, it remains unclear if Sardana Trofimova holds dual citizenship like Ayaal Lazarev.
