Athletes from Sverdlovsk clinched three medals at the Russian Championship and are now set to compete in the finals of the "Queen of Sport" in Ekaterinburg.

After an intense competition at the Russian Athletics Championships in Kazan, several athletes have secured their spots in the upcoming "Queen of Sports" final in Yekaterinburg.

Maxim Yakushev, a two-time reigning champion, reclaimed his title in the 800m and 1500m events, completing the race in 8:28.65. Yakushev, hailing from Sverdlovsk, will be joined by another local athlete, Milana Sadovskaya, who won the silver medal in the long jump with a leap of 6.48 meters.

Sadovskaya, a 19-year-old from Sverdlovsk, finished behind Moscow's Elena Sokolova but managed to climb from fifth position to secure a podium spot in her final attempt.

In addition to Yakushev and Sadovskaya, Alexander Kovrizhnykh (800m and 1500m), Danil Prokushov (5000m), Anna Tropina and Alina Reshtan (both in the 3000m steeplechase) will also represent Sverdlovsk in the "Queen of Sports" final.

The tournament served as a qualifying round for the "Queen of Sports" series final to be held in Yekaterinburg on August 23-24. Athletes compete in various stages throughout the season, accumulating points for the series. The top six point scorers over three stages also qualify for the final.

Ekaterinburg's Danil Prokushov won bronze in the men's 5000m with a time of 13:48.03. However, he was beaten by St. Petersburg's Egor Limonov and Vladimir Nikitin, representing Moscow Oblast and Perm Krai, in the same event.

The "Queen of Sports" final will see eight athletes competing in each event, with two qualifying from the Russian Championships and six based on their performances in the "Queen of Sports" series stages.

As the competition heats up, all eyes will be on Yakushev and Sadovskaya as they strive to make their mark in Yekaterinburg. The final is expected to be a thrilling display of athletic prowess, with over 700 athletes from 70 Russian regions participating in the event.

Sports enthusiasts are anticipating the Siberian duo, Maxim Yakushev and Milana Sadovskaya, as they excel in various events at the "Queen of Sports" final. Both hailing from Sverdlovsk, Yakushev dominates the 800m and 1500m races, while Sadovskaya impresses in the long jump, aiming to secure victory in Yekaterinburg.
