Fresh Take:

Check out the thrilling action at the Team European Championships in Madrid! The German track and field crew is shaking things up, moving from seventh to a stonkin' second place on day two, rackin' up a whopping 266 points!

Italy's holdin' onto their title with a commanding 290 points. Poland's a close third (256.5 points), and the Dutchies (253.5 points) have dropped from first to fourth. Ouch! 😜

The Germans snagged their second EM win thanks to triple jumper Caroline Joyeux, who soared an astronomical 14.42 meters in her final leap! Karl Bebendorf secured Friday's 3000m steeplechase, and Mika Sosna nearly beat Sweden's Olympic champ Daniel Ståhl in the discus (66.17 meters vs 68.36 meters). The men's 4x100m team only trailed the Dutch by a hair, finishin' in 38.27 seconds.

The ladies' team wasn't as fortunate, comin' in third (42.52 seconds) behind the Dutch and Spaniards, but hey, we know they're gonna bounce back! High jumper Tobias Potye grabbed some points with a leap of 2.24 meters.

More excitement awaits on Sunday with long jump star Malaika Mihambo and 90m javelin thrower Julian Weber set to appear. This 11th edition of the Team EM features 37 events, and the best 16 countries compete, sendin' one athlete, one female athlete, or one relay team per nation. The higher the placement, the more points the team earns. Last time around in Chorzów, Poland, Germany took third place. Let's see if they can edge closer to first by the end of this championship! 🏅💪‍♀️💨🇩🇪🤟

On Sunday, Malaika Mihambo and Julian Weber, Germany's long jump star and 90m javelin thrower, are expected to add more points to their team's total in the sports events. Despite the ladies' team's third place finish in the 4x100m relay, expectations are high for them to bounce back and secure impressive points, especially in light of the ongoing football-style competition format in the Team European Championships.
