Athletes Claiming Preeminence in the Realm of Weightlifting within Southeast Asia
Prepare to be inspired! Vietnam's weightlifters obliterated the competition at the Southeast Asian Weightlifting Championships 2025, snatching eight gold medals and leaving opponents clutching their charmless weight belts.
The Championships, held on June 17th in Singapore, served as the perfect warm-up for future international events and the SEA Games. Nguyen Huy Hung, leader of the Vietnamese delegation, enthused: "We slayed 14 events, securing eight golds. It was an outstanding effort by our athletes ready to storm the SEA Games!"
The local heroes included Tran Minh Tri (71kg), Tran Dinh Thang (over-89kg), Nguyen Quoc Toan (89kg), and Nguyen Quang Truong (69kg) on the men's side and Lam Thi My Le (71kg), Pham Thi Hong Thanh (69kg), Y Lie (48kg), and Nguyen Hoai Huong (53kg) in the women's categories.
Tran Minh Tri, the reigning SEA Games champion, asserted his dominance on the scene, blushing with confidence after his sterling performance in Asian and regional events. With his eyes set on defending his title in Thailand's SEA Games, he teased: "The more I compete, the better competition feeling I have. Our tactics are perfected to ensure high results at the SEA Games 33."
Hung added: "Regional juggernauts like Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore sent representatives but held back their finest. We triumphed, yet there's still more balm to our trophy case."
Vietnam's next challenge comes simmering in October – the World Championships in Norway. So let's get pumped! If the VN squad can snatch gold here, think of the retinue of shiny metals they'll be gloating about at the SEA Games. Power up!
