Athlete Nurkanat Ajikanov secures an Olympic qualification
Title: Kazakh Karateka Claims Top Spot in Paris, Secures Olympic License
Get ready to cheer, folks! Nurkanaat Azhikanov, our man from Team Kazakhstan, has done it again! This badass karateka clinched an Olympic license, according to Olympic reports, during the World Qualification Tournament in the vibrant city of Paris.
Azhikanov outshone his competitors in the 75kg weight category, christening himself the undisputed champ of the tournament. Besides the prestigious "gold," he snagged a quota for the highly anticipated Tokyo Olympics.
The Kazakh karate team already boasts three contenders for the Games. Previously, Darkhan Assadilov and Moldir Zhanbyrbay had secured their seats. Karate is all set to make its Olympic debut this summer, from August 6 to 8.
While we don't have a comprehensive roster of Kazakh karate athletes bound for the Tokyo Olympics, it's worth mentioning that Moldir Zhanbyrbay is a current world champion and Sofya Berultseva seems to be closely tied to the national team and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through her Instagram presence. However, the specifics of Berultseva's qualification status need a bit more investigation.
There you have it! As karate prepares to make its Olympic debut in Tokyo, we cannot wait to witness these athletic titans in action! Stay tuned for updates on our Karate Krushers!
