Get ready, sports fans! The highly anticipated Neeraj Chopra Classic is set to kick off on July 5, and it's shaping up to be a real showdown. This inaugural event boasts some heavy hitters in the athletics world, including Neeraj Chopra himself, a two-time Olympic medallist hailing from India.

The competition isn't going to be a walk in the park for Neeraj, though. He'll face stiff competition from the likes of Anderson Peters, a two-time world champion from Grenada, and Thomas Rohler, the Rio Olympics 2016 gold medallist from Germany. Kenya's Julius Yego, a 2015 world champion and Rio 2016 silver medallist, will also be in attendance.

The initial entry list for the Neeraj Chopra Classic, co-organized by Neeraj, JSW Sports, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), and World Athletics (WA), was nearly identical to the one released before the postponement. The only change is the replacement of Japan's Genki Dean with Poland's Martin Konecny.

Other participants include Pan American Games champion Curtis Thompson of the USA, Brazil's Luiz Mauricio da Silva, and Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage, among others.

Local challenges will be presented by Asian Games medallist Kishore Jena, Sachin Yadav, Rohit Yadav, and Sahil Silwal, who will also represent India. Sachin Yadav recently clinched the silver medal at the Asian Athletics Championships, held in Gumi, Republic of Korea, losing to Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem.

The Neeraj Chopra Classic will take place at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, initially intended to be hosted by Panchkula's Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Neeraj's home state of Haryana. However, the venue was changed due to issues with the floodlights at the initial venue.

As a World Athletics 'A' category or Continental Tour Gold-level meet, the Neeraj Chopra Classic will be the highest-tier international athletics event hosted in India to date. For those eager to witness this thrilling event unfold, mark your calendars for July 5!
