Deadly Leap in the French Alps

Athlete meets tragic end during ski jump from towering Alpine summit, reaching 3450 meters above ground.

An unfortunate accident has occurred in the heart of the French Alps. A renowned extreme athlete, identified as Jeb Corliss, met a grim end during a daring wingsuit jump from a staggering 3,450 meters at the Pointe Trifide in La Grave.

The alarming news was confirmed by the local authorities and reported by France 3 and "Le Dauphiné Libéré". Jeb, a local mountain guide, embarked on this death-defying stunt alongside another athlete. Tragically, Jeb did not survive the fall, while his companion managed to land safely in the valley.

According to Jean-Pierre Pic, the mayor of La Grave, both jumpers leaped together, but it was Jeb who crashed at the foot of the Trifide. Local mountain police have launched an investigation to divulge the specifics of this unfortunate event.

Base jumpers with wingsuits, also known as "winged suits," plunge from cliff edges, relying on special body suits with fabric between their arms and legs to soar like wings during their freefall. Upon landing, these daredevils usually deploy a parachute.

This incident is reminiscent of Jeb's survival of a severe wingsuit crash in the same area back in 2012. However, it seems that this time, fate had a different ending for our audacious athlete. To delve deeper into the world of wingsuit fatalities and other heroes, MAYBE we can explore that topic further?
