In an unexpected yet inspiring turn, legendary gymnast Oksana Chusovitina has boldly declared her intentions to compete at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles after reaching the impressive age of 50. Despite being a mere stripling compared to the legendary athlete, the young guns of gymnastics better watch out — Chusovitina is ready to give them a run for their money.

Finishing second in the vault event at the Challenge Cup stage in Tashkent the day before, Chusovitina revealed her audacious dream to TASS. "I'm aiming for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. That event is definitely on my mind. But we're only humans, and time is on our side until the Games. I'll take it one step at a time. It might not happen, but I'll give it my best shot and won't regret it either way," she said.

Chusovitina, who celebrates her half-century on June 19, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to challenge the younger generation on equal terms. "I'm thrilled to be able to perform for my fans and keep the audience entertained," she added.

A living testament to gymnastics' enduring spirit, Chusovitina's Olympic journey stretches across multiple decades and various national teams. Making her debut in 1992, representing the Unified Team, Chusovitina has since seen action for Uzbekistan, Germany, and her home country, winning both a team gold and an individual vault silver. Although she narrowly missed qualifying for the 2024 Games due to an injury, she shows no signs of slowing down.

Reaching this milestone in an otherwise remarkable career, Chusovitina proves that age is but a number and that passion and determination have no boundaries. Team USA, watch your back!
