Ateez's Hongjoong named ambassador for World Vision's clean water campaign
Hongjoong, leader of the K-pop group Ateez, has taken on a new role as honorary ambassador for World Vision's Global 6K for Water campaign. The announcement came after he formally accepted the position at the organisation's Seoul headquarters on Thursday. His involvement aims to highlight the struggles of children who walk long distances for clean water every day. Hongjoong's connection with the campaign began earlier. In 2024, he joined the virtual run event, and in 2025, he took part in the Global 6K Marathon. His growing commitment led to his appointment as a brand model for the 2025 marathon, where he actively promoted the cause.
On March 26, 2026, his role expanded further when he became the global ambassador. He has pledged to use his platform to encourage wider participation and raise awareness about the drinking water and sanitation crisis. His focus remains on supporting children who must travel over 6 kilometres daily just to access clean water. Despite his new responsibilities, Hongjoong will balance his advocacy work with Ateez's ongoing activities. The group's 'In Your Fantasy' world tour continues, with their next concert scheduled for Macau this Saturday.
As honorary ambassador, Hongjoong will now promote the Global 6K for Water campaign on a global scale. His efforts will centre on mobilising support for children facing water scarcity. Meanwhile, Ateez's tour remains on track, with performances set to proceed as planned.
