Atalanta's Late Show Secures First Champions League Points
Atalanta secured their first points in the Champions League this season with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Club Brugge on Tuesday. The Italian side came from behind to snatch the win in the closing stages of the match.
The game started with Club Brugge taking the lead in the first half. Christos Tzolis put the Belgian side ahead in the 38th minute, with Carlos Forbs providing the assist. Despite the setback, Atalanta kept their composure and fought back.
In the 74th minute, Lazar Samardzic stepped up to take a penalty and equalised the game for Atalanta. Mario Pasalic then became the hero, scoring the winning goal in the 87th minute. This came after Romeo Vermant's effort went narrowly wide for Club Brugge, which could have sealed the win for the home side.
Atalanta's comeback win sees them move off the bottom of their Champions League group. Club Brugge, who had previously beaten Monaco 4-1, suffered their first defeat in the competition. Both teams now have three points, but Atalanta's victory gives them a crucial boost in their quest to progress from the group stage.
