Seattle Mariners' Bryan Woo Exits Game Against Astros Due to Injury

In a surprising turn of events during the Seattle Mariners' game against the Houston Astros, starting pitcher Bryan Woo was forced to leave the mound before the sixth inning due to a reported "pec tightness."

Woo, who had a career-high 30th start in the game, was pitching one of his best this season. He allowed only one hit over five innings, walked one batter, and struck out seven. Remarkably, he was at 67 pitches after five innings and had thrown first-pitch strikes to 12 of the 17 batters he faced, with only three three-ball counts.

However, near the end of the fifth inning, Woo signalled to the Mariners' medical staff about his discomfort. Kyle Torgerson, the Mariners' head athletic trainer, was on the mound with Woo when he left the game.

Eduard Bazardo replaced Woo to start the sixth inning, as he had started warming up earlier due to Woo's injury. The replacement for Woo, who is necessary to take over the start in the sixth inning against the Astros in case of another test, is not specified in the available information.

Dan Wilson, the Mariners' manager, announced that Woo will likely undergo a precautionary MRI on Saturday. The Mariners are uncertain about Woo's status moving forward, as it depends on the results of further testing.

Despite Woo's departure, the Mariners managed to salvage a road series win against the Astros. Woo's win improves his season record to 15-7 and lowers his ERA to 2.94.

Meanwhile, the Mariners are currently tied for the AL West lead after salvaging a road series win against the Royals. Cal Raleigh had a full-circle embrace with Mariners fans during the game against the Royals, while the animosity between the Seahawks and Geno Smith is unlikely, despite his comments.

The Mariners have an off day on Monday, which gives Dan Wilson some flexibility in scheduling Woo's next start. If necessary, Woo would be the obvious choice to start Game 1 of a postseason for the Mariners, given his exceptional performance this season. Woo has pitched at least six innings in 27 of his 30 starts, making him the Mariners' best starting pitcher all season.
