Astana Opera Brings 'Coppelia' to Muscat, Teases Historic 'Rigoletto' Premiere

Astana Opera, led by general director Alexandr Sovostyanov, is set to captivate audiences in Muscat, Oman, with a grand performance of 'Coppélia', a ballet choreographed by Roland Petit. The company aims to showcase the high level of Kazakh ballet. The tour is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan.

The ballet 'Coppélia', a comedy filled with irony and lightness, will be presented in two casts, each bringing a unique energy and personality to the performance. The company is traveling with an impressive entourage of 55 ballet dancers, orchestra musicians, and technical crew, along with elaborate sets and costumes. Artistic director Altynai Asylmuratova looks forward to returning to Oman, having previously performed there in 2017.

Back in Kazakhstan, Astana Opera is preparing for the first-ever performance of Giuseppe Verdi's opera 'Rigoletto'. Staged by Arnaud Bernard and conducted by Alan Buribayev, the opera will premiere on October 3, 4, and 5. Meanwhile, 'Coppélia' continues to enchant local audiences, having been added to the repertoire in 2019 and becoming a favorite among the company.

The performance of 'Coppélia' in Muscat promises to be a spectacular event, showcasing the best of Kazakh ballet. Back home, Astana Opera is set to make history with the first performance of 'Rigoletto'. The company continues to enrich its repertoire and bring world-class performances to Kazakh audiences.
