Assistance from Nordhorn and Coevorden in Chuhuiv
In a heartwarming display of solidarity, the Black Angels Germany e.V. association, in collaboration with the cities of Nordhorn and Coevorden, delivered vital relief supplies to the Ukrainian city of Chuhuiv at the end of October 2024. The aid, collected during the 'Local Time Germany' event series, included two vehicles, tools, and power generators, and was personally handed over by a volunteer six-person driver group at the Polish-Ukrainian border.
The relief supplies provided valuable aid to the people of Chuhuiv, a city that has been deeply affected by the ongoing conflict. The delivered vehicles and equipment are now in use with the city's emergency repair brigade, ensuring that essential services can continue to operate.
Mayor Galyna Minayeva of Chuhuiv expressed her gratitude in a letter, thanking the cities of Nordhorn and Coevorden for their material means, encouragement, and the strong feeling of not being alone. She reported that the help provided by the concert attendees and supporters has given strength to the people of Chuhuiv during these challenging times.
The solidarity concert in Nordhorn, attended by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, collected over 102,000 euros. The funds were used to purchase the relief supplies, and the commitment of the volunteer drivers significantly contributed to the aid reaching the people in Chuhuiv quickly and directly.
The helpers were able to secure the central hospital in Chuhuiv after a heavy drone attack, maintaining operations within a day using the provided means. This swift action undoubtedly saved lives and provided a beacon of hope in a difficult time.
Mayor Thomas Berling of Nordhorn thanked all citizens who donated for making the aid project possible. He also extended his gratitude to the volunteer drivers who undertook the long journey to the Polish-Ukrainian border in the winter. Their selfless act will not be forgotten by the people of Chuhuiv.
