Assessing Formula 1 Team Performance Rankings Through the Current Season
Racing Through the Seasons
The initial half of the Formula 1 season has been buzzing with excitement! Many predicted that Max Verstappen would dominate and race towards a fourth title. But the game hasn't been a cakewalk for him.
Verstappen seized five victories in the opening seven races, only to face a slump in the following seven, collecting just two more wins before the summer break.
Meanwhile, Alpine faced troubling times, scoring a mere single point in the opening seven races. This led to dismissals of top-tier team members, including team boss Bruno Famin. The French team has shown poor performance, especially compared to their three podium finishes in the previous season.
Stars of the Tracks - Team Ratings
Alpine - 4The only French factory team on the grid is under immense pressure. They have experienced several DNFs and delivered a dismal performance in Monaco. Next season, they'll part ways with Esteban Ocon. With 11 points in 14 races, they're far from their 2023 form.
Aston Martin - 5Aston Martin couldn't maintain the brilliant start they made in 2023. The team sits in fifth position in the standings, with Fernando Alonso earning a third of the team's 73 points.
Ferrari - 6The Italian team was competitive in the early stage of Grand Prix, but fell behind in the pecking order towards the summer break. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have picked up wins, but they need significant improvements to challenge for the constructors' championship.
Haas - 5New team boss Ayao Komatsu took some time to adapt to Haas. However, the American F1 team has shown signs of recovery with Nico Hulkenberg's two sixth-place finishes in Austria and Britain, giving a glimpse of why Audi signed him for the next season.
McLaren - 9McLaren has overtaken Red Bull as the fastest team, and scooped two victories. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have claimed their first Formula 1 wins. McLaren is in a good position to overtake Red Bull in the constructors' title race if they can maintain their current form.
Mercedes - 7Mercedes has made significant improvements, leaving behind their dismal 2023 performance. They've managed to score three victories, with Lewis Hamilton powering his way to an emotional win in his last British GP before moving to Ferrari. The team is back on track with a car that can challenge most circuits.
RB - 7Daniel Ricciardo has been overshadowed by Yuki Tsunoda in 2023. The Japanese driver has scored the majority of the points. RB is in sixth position in the constructors' standings, with Tsunoda close to a future move to the main Red Bull team.
Red Bull - 8The reigning constructors' champions had a strong start in 2023 but have since declined, with McLaren taking the lead. Max Verstappen still holds a 78-point lead in the drivers' standings, but he'll need teammate Sergio Perez's assistance when the season resumes in two weeks if they want to stay in first place. McLaren trails Red Bull by 42 points in the standings.
Sauber - 2Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu haven't scored a point, leaving Sauber at the bottom of the constructors' standings. Audi will take over the team from 2026, but the current personnel will look to return after the break with stronger performances.
Williams - 4The biggest news from Williams is that they've signed Ferrari's Carlos Sainz for 2024. The Spanish driver is a significant catch for James Vowles and will partner Alex Albon in a promising driver line-up. The British team is rebuilding and has scored four points this season, all from Albon.
