Assam: PM Modi Holds 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' With 25 Students Aboard 'M V Charaidew 2' On Brahmaputra River
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with 25 Assamese students during a special event on the Brahmaputra River. The session, called Pariksha Pe Charcha, was held aboard the cruise ship M V Charaidew 2 on Sunday morning. Security measures led to a two-day suspension of ferry services in the area.
The programme began with Modi arriving at Guwahati Gateway Terminal. From there, he walked along a floating bridge to board the three-deck vessel. Once on the upper deck, he engaged in discussions with the students for around 45 minutes.
Ferry operations on the Brahmaputra had been halted since Saturday. Authorities, including the Inland Water Transport Department, enforced the closure to ensure safety during the event. Security was tight, with River Police, NDRF, and SDRF teams patrolling the river throughout the visit. The event formed part of Modi’s wider Assam tour. His interactions with the students took place against the backdrop of heightened precautions along the waterway.
The Pariksha Pe Charcha session concluded after nearly an hour. Ferry services resumed only after Modi’s departure from the area. The suspension had affected river transport for two full days.
