The young actor, Timothée Chalamet, who turns 29 this year, has become quite the Knicks fan. His passion for the team is evident, often seen posing with Lee at Knicks games. However, some speculate that he is taking over Lee's spot as the Knicks' biggest superfan.
Chalamet's next film, "Marty Supreme", is a fascinating project based on the life of the real athlete Marty Reisman. After wrapping up this table tennis-themed movie, Chalamet will move on to the third installment of the "Dune" trilogy.
Meanwhile, Spike Lee, at 68, is currently enjoying the success of his latest film, "Highest 2 Lowest", which stars Denzel Washington and is now in theaters, set to stream on Apple TV+ in early September.
During a recent podcast, Lee mentioned that he and Chalamet have discussed potentially working together in the future. However, with Chalamet's busy schedule, the collaboration is expected to happen in the next four to five years. Lee emphasised that the potential project will not be sports-related.
In a conversation on "The Bill Simmons Podcast", the shared interest in the Knicks was the focus. Lee was asked about an alleged rivalry with Chalamet for the title of the Knicks' biggest superfan. Lee, however, does not see a rivalry between himself and Chalamet. Instead, he praises the young actor as a "great actor" and a "real Knicks fan".
Lee also made it clear that he is not bothered by Chalamet taking over his spot as the Knicks' biggest superfan. In fact, he considers Chalamet to be a "nice guy".
As for the alleged rivalry, it seems that it is more of a friendly competition than anything else. Both Lee and Chalamet have shown mutual respect for each other, sharing their love for the Knicks and the potential of a future collaboration.
