Aspiring contenders vying for positions in the rankings

In the picturesque town of Cham, Bavaria, TC Rot-Weiß Cham welcomed ambitious young tennis players for the fourth consecutive year, as they hosted the DTB-Jugendturnier in the J-4 category.

This year's tournament attracted nearly 60 participants, divided into five age groups: U12, U14, U16, U18, and U18 for the girls' competition, due to lower demand in other age groups. The event, which contributes to the German rankings annually, saw a significant number of participants from Bavaria.

Representing TC Rot-Weiß Cham in the tournament were only two players, Max Wanninger and Ben Weichselmann. Wanninger, who has been participating in the tournament for the past four years, earned points for the German rankings this time around. Weichselmann, who is a regular participant, also took part in the tournament for the third consecutive year.

Interestingly, the girls' competition was the only one held in the U18 category this year, as well as last year, due to lower demand. The boys' competitions were held in the U12, U14, U16, and U18 categories.

The girls' competition in Cham marked the second consecutive year that the tournament was only held for U18 players. Meanwhile, the boys' competitions followed the usual age group divisions.

Despite the lower number of participants in the girls' competition, the tournament in Cham was a resounding success, with the young tennis players showcasing their skills and determination on the court. The event provided a valuable opportunity for these players to gain experience and improve their rankings, as they strive to reach the top of their game.
