Asia Cup 2025: Aamir Kaleem Sets T20I Records in India vs Oman Match 12
On Friday, 19 September 2025, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Oman put up a valiant effort against India in the 12th T20I of the Asia Cup 2025. Despite a strong performance by Aamir Kaleem, who became the oldest cricketer to score a T20I fifty against a full-member nation, Oman fell short by 21 runs, with India winning the match.
Aamir Kaleem, who took 2/31 in three overs earlier in the match, also showcased his batting prowess, scoring 64 runs off 46 balls. His innings included seven boundaries and two sixes, and he was ably supported by Hammad Mirza, who scored 51 runs off 33 balls. The duo shared a 93-run partnership, which was the highest of the match.
Oman's total of 167 runs was their second-highest against a full-member side, narrowly missing their highest total of 173/9 against Ireland at Al Amerat in 2019. The second-highest T20I total by an Associate team against India is 179/9 by Nepal in the 2023 Asian Games.
Shoaib Khan also contributed with a score of 57 runs off 38 balls in a T20I against Ireland in 2022. Khawar Ali had previously scored 50 runs off 34 balls in a T20I against Ireland in 2019. Noor Ali Zadran, from Afghanistan, scored 50 runs off 48 balls against India in a T20I during the 2010 World Cup.
Despite these impressive performances, Oman could not quite match India's total, with the match ultimately being won by the Indian team. The umpires for the match are not currently known.
This was a memorable performance by Aamir Kaleem, who not only took crucial wickets but also scored the winning fifty for Oman. Despite the loss, the team can take pride in their competitive effort against a strong Indian side.
