Ashwin Vijay Vergiya Wins the Grand Title at DPT 2024 Tournament
In the latest poker event announced by DPT Grand, the DPT Grand October 2024, Udaipur's own Ashwin Vijay Vergiya has made a significant mark. The highly anticipated tournament, which includes bracelet events, culminated with Vergiya securing a resounding victory in the main event, the DPT Grand Championship.
Vergiya's journey to the top was not an easy one. With a field of 421 entries, the competition was fierce. However, Vergiya's resilience and skill shone through, as he outlasted all other players to claim the first place prize of ₹34,01,055.
Nikhil Gutta, another prominent player in the Indian poker scene, finished as the runner-up, taking home ₹37,13,653. Mithun Mahesh and Atul Nandi also made notable appearances, finishing in fifth and fourth places respectively, earning ₹11,86,309 and ₹16,17,575.
Ashwin Vijay Vergiya's victory in the DPT Grand Championship is not his first notable achievement. Known in the Indian poker community for his strong performances in both online and live tournaments, Vergiya came close to winning the Circuit#8 Mini HighRoller tournament, finishing second and earning ₹13.87 lakh. He also secured ₹44,630 by finishing 36th in the Circuit#52 PLO-6 HighRoller on PokerBaazi.
Vergiya's consistent performance in high-stakes events has earned him a growing reputation. Online rankings and mentions as a rising young talent ("YoungGun") in poker circles reflect his prominence in the Indian poker scene.
Meanwhile, Deltin Poker has been a regular host of poker events in India, with several winners emerging from their tournaments. One such event was the Adda52's Grand Poker Festival 2024, which offered a total prize pool of ₹33+ crores.
