Ashley Tisdale reveals why she left her mom group after feeling excluded
Ashley Tisdale has spoken openly about leaving a mom group she joined after giving birth in 2021. In a personal essay for The Cut, she described feeling excluded and hurt by the group’s behaviour. Though she did not name anyone directly, clues from her Instagram stories pointed to well-known figures like Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor.
Tisdale initially found comfort in the group, enjoying playdates, dinners, and shared activities. But over time, she noticed a shift—uncomfortable silences, missed invitations, and a growing distance. The exclusion became especially painful during her postpartum period, with small but stinging moments like being seated apart from the others or overlooked when planning her daughter’s birthday.
After recognising a pattern—another mom had also been frozen out—she decided to address the issue. Tisdale set clear boundaries and expressed how the dynamic was affecting her. The response was mixed: some members tried to mend things, while others dismissed her feelings entirely. Following the essay’s publication, her team clarified that the piece was not an attack on specific people and denied any political ties. Tisdale also asked the public not to speculate about who was involved. Instead, she highlighted how her story had resonated with many women facing similar struggles.
Tisdale’s experience has sparked wider conversations about support among moms. She emphasised that parenting is already hard enough without women questioning whether they can rely on those around them. The situation ultimately led her to step away from the group for her own well-being.
