Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani Take the Top Spot in Men's Doubles Badminton World Rankings

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 - After a notable ascension, Malaysian badminton players Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani have claimed the number one ranking in men's doubles, according to the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings. Their total points of 91,090 propelled them ahead of Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, who previously held the top spot with 90,411 points.

The Danish pair failed to defend their title at the Malaysia Masters, allowing Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin to seize the coveted position. This marks the first time a Malaysian men's doubles pair has held the top ranking since Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong achieved the feat in 2016[1][2][3].

Following their triumph at the India Open in January, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin experienced a slight dip in form, failing to reach the semifinals of subsequent tournaments. Nonetheless, they have demonstrated impressive consistency and talent, culminating in their current world-class status.

Ahead, the duo is set to compete in the Singapore Open, scheduled for May 27-June 1. They will commence their campaign against Taiwanese pair Lee Fang Chih-Lee Fang Jen on May 28.

Meanwhile, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik maintained their third position in the world rankings, while Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, fresh off their Malaysia Masters victory, moved up one spot to seventh place.
