Asean-GCC-China Meeting Ushering in a New Era for Regional Economic Interconnections

Malaysian mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie advanced to the second round of the Singapore Open 2025 Badminton Championships on May 27. The tournament's top seeds overcame the Ukrainian pair Oleksii Titov and Yevheniia Kantemyr, winning 21-11, 21-8 in just 21 minutes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The husband-and-wife pair will face the victor of the match between Denmark's Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch and China's Feng Yan Zhe and Wei Ya Xin in the next round.

However, the national men's doubles pair Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub and Tan Wee Kiong were unable to progress past the first round, losing to the sixth-seeded Indonesian pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto in straight sets (18-21, 16-21).

Meanwhile, the Malaysian mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei had a successful first round, while another professional pair, Wong Tien Ci and Lim Chiew Sien, were eliminated.

Recent performance records show that Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie had a disappointing first-round exit at the Malaysia Masters 2025 against Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch [1]. On the other hand, Chen Tang Jie and Chan Wen Tse have demonstrated promising results, reaching the semifinals at the 2025 Taipei Open [5].
