Gear up for a sky-high spectacle at the sports park of FC Aschheim this week, as the prestigious international high jump meeting makes its grand return! It's an eighth edition filled with brawn and finesse, boasting a world-class lineup of athletes – and this year, it's officially ranking among the big leagues as a "World Ranking Competition."
A High-flying Agenda
The day kicks off with youth events:11:00 AM: U14; 1:00 PM: U16. In the afternoon, the stage is set for the heavy hitters:3:00 PM: Women's Youth (U18, U20, U23, Seniors); 4:30 PM: Men's Youth (U18, U20, U23, Seniors).
International Stars and Local Heroes
This year's roster promises excitement with athletes hailing from the Czech Republic, Austria, Luxembourg, and Ukraine. For German fans, it's a homegrown hero thrill as the reigning German champion and European vice-champion Tobias Potye, who honed his skills with FC Aschheim, is on the lineup – holding the current meeting record of 2.26m. You'll also find Manfred Ziegler, world record holder in the M65 age class (1.68m), who's bound to show age is but a number.
The women's events boast quality competition as well: Eva Kalb and Marina Kovtunova bring entry heights over 1.80m – Laura Gröll's record (1.81m, 2017) is well within reach.
High Jump Royalty Carlo Thränhardt on Hand
A true highlight: Carlo Thränhardt, the long-time German record holder (indoor world record 2.42m), will accompany the audience throughout the day, acting as a lively moderator. His extensive experience, infectious enthusiasm, and rhythmic clapping, live commentary, and music-accompanied attempts will create an unmatched atmosphere for spectators – right at the heart of the action. Admission is free, thanks to the generous support of main sponsor REWE Erdem Aschheim.
