Arvid de Kleijn Wins Stage 2 of Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi as Matteo Malucelli Retains Overall Lead
Stage 2 of the Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi saw Arvid de Kleijn (Tudor Pro Cycling) claim victory in Kepala Batas, while Iván Cobo Cayón (Equipo Kern Pharma) and Joris Delbove (Team TotalEnergies) secured the top two spots in the first watch sprint.
The 166.1km stage started in Padang Besar, running parallel to the coast. Early on, multiple breakaway attempts were made, with several riders trying to get up the road. The main breakaway group was formed by Cedril Christophersen (Unibet Tietema Rockets), Vadim Pronskiy (Terengganu Cycling), and Hayato Tobaru (Aisan Racing), who worked together before the final sprint.
In the first watch sprint, Cobo Cayón and Delbove took the top spots, with Aaron Gate (XDS-Astana) finishing third from the bunch. De Kleijn, who praised his team's support, went on to secure his first victory of the 2025 season and the race. Despite not winning the stage, Matteo Malucelli (XDS Astana) retained the overall lead. Enrico Zanoncello (VF Group-Bardiani CSF Faizane) rounded out the stage podium in third place.
Stage 2 of the Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi ended with Arvid de Kleijn's maiden victory of the season, while the overall lead remains with Matteo Malucelli. The race continues to showcase exciting racing and competitive sprinting.
