In a groundbreaking move for the music industry, British artist Sam Fender has completed a summer tour using all electric transport, making him the first artist to do so. The tour, titled 'People Watching', covered over 900 miles using four fully electric vehicles in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

Richard Burnett of KB Event, a leading player in live music tours, has spoken highly of the eActros 600 trucks used in the tour. He stated that transport is a key part of any live music tour and that the eActros 600 has shown electric trucks can be reliable for big tours. Each electric vehicle carried stage sets and equipment between cities and venues.

While on tour, the eActros 600s charged while on the road, demonstrating the practicality and efficiency of electric transport for large-scale events. Fender expressed hope that other artists will follow suit, aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of live music tours.

Fender's album 'People Watching' has been announced as a contender for the Mercury Prize 2025. This is the second Mercury Prize nomination for Fender, following his debut album 'Seventeen Going Under'. The album, which takes stock of Fender's life so far and contemplates who he may be next, has received critical acclaim. NME gave 'People Watching' a four-star review, praising its introspective and vulnerable nature.

'People Watching' reflects on the characters, friends, and loved ones who have influenced Sam Fender's life. The album is competing against albums from CMAT, Fontaines D.C., and Wolf Alice for the Mercury Prize.

Aside from his environmental efforts and Mercury Prize nomination, Fender is currently playing shows in North America and will head to Australia in November. Tickets for US shows can be found here, and tickets for Australian shows can be found here.

Fender has already begun working on the follow-up to 'People Watching', as he mentioned on Apple Music 1’s The Zane Lowe Show. With his innovative approach to touring and promising new music on the horizon, it's an exciting time for Sam Fender and his fans.

In addition to his music and touring, Fender has also shown his commitment to supporting the music industry. Funds raised from his UK tour in late 2024 provided a package of over £100,000 to help support almost 48 independent music venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

With his pioneering spirit and dedication to both his craft and the industry, Sam Fender continues to make waves in the music world. His 'People Watching' tour and Mercury Prize nomination are testament to his success and his commitment to a greener future for live music.
