Art and Healing Unite Women Veterans in Groundbreaking Program
A unique three-day program for women involved in the special military operation took place earlier this month. From March 8 to 10, the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries hosted 'Women Heroes: Drawing Strength from Art', the first all-female initiative of its kind. The event brought together 25 participants, including active-duty service members, medics, journalists, volunteers, and veterans.
The program aimed to help women reconnect with their feminine energy while restoring emotional balance. Workshops covered psychology, art therapy, vocal performance, painting, acting, makeup artistry, and photography. Participants also received branded sportswear from Russian clothing brand NEVA, featuring the event's emblem.
This initiative follows two earlier art programs for women linked to the special military operation. In summer 2024, 'Tavrida Women' gathered over 1,000 participants from 80 regions under the Tavrida-Art Cluster. Another event, 'Defenders of the Fatherland', took place in early 2026 in Moscow and Crimea, with 500 female attendees. NEVA, the fashion brand behind the sportswear, promotes national traditions and patriotism. It also supports young scientists and athletes across Russia. Currently, more than a thousand women are involved in the special military operation, with one in three having received state honours for their service.
The 'Women Heroes' program marks a new approach to supporting women in high-pressure roles. By combining creative and therapeutic activities, it offers tools for emotional recovery. Further initiatives under the Tavrida-Art Cluster suggest growing recognition of women's contributions in this field.
