Arsonists attack YouTube personality's kebab truck in Melbourne, prompting unexpected response from Spanish

Melbourne food truck operator Spanian, a prominent YouTuber with a background in career crime and filmmaking, has faced adversity after his kebab truck was targeted by arsonists early on a Saturday morning. The incident took place on Bell Street in Preston at around 4 a.m., as reported by firefighters.

Upon arrival, they found that the truck had been set alight using flammable liquid, managing to contain the damage to the trailer. The truck had been moved to the site in early May before a grand opening on May 16, according to Spanian, who claimed that it was 'the biggest turnout we've ever had.'

In a video shared on his social media platforms, Spanian appeared unfazed by the attack, stating, "They burnt the front wall, but it's not an issue, there's another truck already on the way." He further explained that his factory produces the trucks and that a replacement was already en route to Melbourne.

Spanian clarified that the trucks are owned by members of the local community, and he expressed sympathy for the truck's owner. He implied that the attack might have been carried out by rivals in the industry, commenting, "I thought Spanian's Kebabs were shit. Well guess whose kebabs they're trying to burn down?"

The assailants' motives remain unclear, with reports not specifying who might be responsible or why the truck was targeted. Spanian gained prominence in the food industry with his Melbourne-based kebab shop, which has since expanded to multiple locations.

The Sydneysider built his online following after serving over a decade in prison for various offences, including a ram raid on an ATM, assaults, and drug distribution. After his release, he briefly attempted a career as a drill rapper before achieving success on YouTube. Controversial comments about the LGBTQI+ community have caused some issues, leading to the withdrawal of his autobiography by his publisher.
