Arson Attack in Poker Game Leaves Two Men in Critical Condition
A poker game in Klagenfurt, Austria, turned into a nightmare last weekend when an arson attack left two men critically injured. Both victims were placed into medically induced comas following the incident, which occurred during a dispute over gambling debts.
The incident, which took place in a common room with eight people present, was reported by the local fire service on social media. A 54-year-old man from St. Veit an der Glan is suspected of intentionally setting fire to the premises. He had been involved in a heated argument about gambling debts prior to the attack.
The suspect, who was moderately intoxicated, poured gasoline into the room and ignited it. The two most severely injured men, aged 52 and 55, suffered severe burns and were immediately placed in medically induced comas. The 55-year-old victim was airlifted to University Hospital in Graz for further treatment. Four other men sustained minor injuries, while two suffered severe burns.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The two victims remain in critical condition, with their families and friends hoping for a full recovery.
