Arsenal Secure Eberechi Eze Signing in £67.5m Deal

In a significant move for the Premier League, Arsenal have completed the transfer of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, as announced on a Saturday before their match against Leeds. The deal, worth £67.5m, sees Eze join the Gunners on a four-year contract with an optional additional year, donning the coveted number 10 shirt.

The 26-year-old midfielder had a standout 2024-25 season for Crystal Palace, registering 26 goal involvements (14 goals, 12 assists) across all competitions. If he joins Arsenal, he will bring with him a wealth of experience, having made a total of 169 appearances for Crystal Palace, scoring 40 goals and registering 29 assists.

Former Arsenal forward, Paul Merson, believes Eze could be the solution to Arsenal's issues in breaking down tight defenses, particularly in crucial games and the business end of the season. Merson goes as far as to suggest that Eze's signing could lead Arsenal to Premier League glory in the 2025-26 season.

However, Merson is quick to point out that Eze may not be the answer for Arsenal away from home against teams like Liverpool and Manchester City, who may put them under pressure for periods of the game. At home against lesser teams, where Arsenal often have a significant amount of possession, Merson suggests that Eze should be given the freedom to express himself and make things happen.

Eze's goal contributions tally was more than any player within Arsenal's ranks, with Bukayo Saka the closest to his total with 25. His potential signing by Arsenal could be a difference maker in their bid for the title.

Merson emphasizes the importance of a big squad in football, suggesting that different players should be used in different situations to maximize the team's chances of success. He reiterates that Eze is a brilliant signing for Arsenal, stating it as a game-changer and a perfect fit.

Initially, Mikel Arteta's side had been close to signing Eze, but Arsenal has since hijacked the move, securing the services of the talented midfielder. Eze is expected to feature in Crystal Palace's Conference League play-off first leg against Fredrikstad on Thursday, but speculation remains high about his potential debut for Arsenal.

If Eze can live up to the expectations, he could indeed be the key to Arsenal's Premier League title challenge in the 2025-26 season.
