Arsenal and Manchester City: A Rivalry Heats Up

The rivalry between Arsenal and Manchester City has reached new heights, with the latest incident taking place during a celebration at the Emirates Stadium. Lewis-Skelly, an Arsenal defender, scored against Manchester United in February, and his celebration, which mockingly imitated Man City striker Erling Haaland's zen goal celebration, added fuel to the fire.

Haaland, in response, taunted Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta by urging him to 'stay humble' following a draw at the Etihad Stadium. The exchange between the two highlights the growing acrimony between the two clubs.

In other news, Arsenal were without Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Ben White for their midweek Champions League game against Athletic Bilbao. Arteta has revealed that the trio have not trained this week and will provide more information about their availability after tomorrow's session.

The departure of Tim Lewis, who has been an advisor to Arsenal's owners, Kroenke Sports, since 2007, was announced by the club on Friday. Lewis played a significant role alongside Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta in Arsenal's summer spending spree, which totalled £250 million ($337 million).

Arteta expressed gratitude towards Lewis for his contributions to the football club and the team. However, he does not expect the departure of Lewis to affect his relationship with the club. Co-chair Josh Kroenke is expected to have more influence on Arsenal's affairs moving forward.

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres is expected to be available after receiving stitches for a head injury. Despite the challenges faced by the team, Arteta remains positive about Arsenal's future and the vision that the Kroenke family has for the club.

The departure of Lewis comes after a series of close title fights with Manchester City in 2023 and 2024, with Arsenal falling just short on both occasions. Lewis-Skelly, who has not started a game for Arsenal this season, will be looking to make an impact as the team continues to battle it out in the Premier League.
