Arsenal Pursue Eberechi Eze as Potential Replacement for Injured Kai Havertz

Arsenal are reportedly in negotiations to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, as the London club seeks a new attacker following Kai Havertz's knee injury.

Eze, who previously trained at Arsenal's academy, has expressed interest in a switch to the Gunners. The 25-year-old midfielder starred in the Community Shield at Wembley but missed a penalty in the shootout as Palace beat Liverpool 3-2.

Eze joined Palace in a £17m deal in 2020 and has made 167 appearances for the club, scoring 40 goals. His impressive performances for the Eagles, including scoring in the quarter-final, semi-final, and the winner in the final of last season's FA Cup, helped Palace win their first ever major trophy.

Tottenham Hotspur were previously foiled in their bid to sign Eze, with the player expected to join Spurs. However, if Eze's move to Arsenal goes through, it would be a significant setback for Tottenham. The North London club will have to seek alternatives for a new No10, as Eze's departure would leave a gap in their squad.

Arsenal had previously cooled their interest in Eze following Ethan Nwaneri's contract renewal. However, with James Maddison out for most of the season with a serious knee injury, leaving a need for a new playmaker for Thomas Frank's side, the Gunners have shown renewed interest in Eze.

Eze has not made himself unavailable for selection during negotiations, and his move to Arsenal has not been finalized yet due to Crystal Palace wanting him available for Thursday's Europa Conference League play-off.

If negotiations are successful, Eze would join Arsenal as a valuable addition to their midfield, providing creativity and goals in the final third. The Gunners will be hoping that Eze can help them challenge for silverware this season, as they look to build on their fifth-place finish in the Premier League last season.
