Arsenal reportedly engages in negotiations with RB Leipzig concerning a potential transfer of Benjamin Sesko, with Leipzig reportedly taking an unusual step to push the negotiations forward.
Benjamin Sesko Chase: Gunners and Leipzig in Transfer Tussle
Arsenal has set its sights on RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, a Slovenian forward who's been on their radar since last season. With new sporting director Andrea Berta eager to make a splash this summer, official talks with Leipzig were initiated last Friday [2][4].
Though no formal bid has been submitted, both clubs have maintained dialogue. Arsenal is eyeing to nab Sesko for a more economical price, as RB Leipzig values the striker at approximately €80 million [3][4].
The discussions have proved promising, with optimism surrounding a potential agreement. However, the negotiations are taking time due to the difference in asking prices [3][4].
Other clubs have taken note of Sesko's talent, with Al-Hilal expressing interest after missing out on Victor Osimhen. Despite this, it appears Arsenal's pursuit appears to be more advanced [1].
Currently, Sesko is nursing a minor knee injury and did not play in Slovenia's match against Luxembourg [2]. Leipzig had previously reached out to the Slovenian FA before the international break, urging Sesko to sit out the games to avoid any potential injuries [2].
Aside from Sesko, Arsenal continues to eye Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish sensation has been subject to interest from several top clubs, including Mikel Arteta's Manchester United, who currently seem to be in pole position [2].
Gyokeres boasted an astonishing 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting last season, with a reported £85m release clause [2]. Although this enormous price tag exists, it is said that Portuguese side would consider a lower offer of around £60m [2].
With the transfer window heating up, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will manage to secure Sesko's signature. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story!
