Arsenal's Defensive Blues: Timber's Fitness Remains a Doubt Against PSG

It looks like Arsenal could be in for a challenging match against Paris Saint-Germain as Jurrien Timber, their key defender, might miss the crucial clash.

Timber was notably absent during the Premier League encounter with Bournemouth on Saturday, a match that ended in a 2-1 loss for the Gunners.

The Dutch star was seen cheering from the sidelines at the Emirates Stadium, but Mikel Arteta seemed uncertain about his readiness for the game against PSG.

"Nah, mate. Can't say for sure that Timber'll make it to the Parc des Princes," Arteta said, expressing caution about the defender's condition. "He couldn't play here, and we've been pushing him hard for four days."

While Arteta did not disclose the precise nature of Timber's injury, he emphasized that the team was closely monitoring the player's progress.

Timber's last appearance was during the Champions League semi-final first leg against PSG last week. He played 83 minutes before being substituted by Ben White. Consequently, White took his place at right-back against Bournemouth.

If Timber fails to recover in time, it would be a significant setback for Arsenal. The 23-year-old has made 47 appearances for the Gunners this season, contributing two goals and four assists.

Arsenal will be indeed short-staffed, as Gabriel Magalhaes and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also unavailable for the match in Paris due to injuries. Riccardo Calafiori, however, will also sit out the game after sustaining a knee injury during international duty in March.

The Gunners will be motivated to bounce back after their 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth. PSG, too, will be eager to put behind their shock loss to Liam Rosenior's Strasbourg on Saturday.
