Arsenal has reportedly engaged in two negotiations with Arda Guler, as Real Madrid has been reapproached due to renewed Premier League interest and a potential record transfer fee.
Arsenal are reportedly close to signing one of Europe's most promising young players, Arda Guler, from Real Madrid next summer. According to The Athletic, a £45m option to buy is in place, which could see the Gunners break their transfer record.
Guler, a 19-year-old midfielder, has established himself as one of Real Madrid's most prominent creative players. His intensity and skill have earned him favour with Xabi Alonso, and he has been favoured over Jude Bellingham in recent Champions League matches.
The Spanish outlet Defensa Central reports that Premier League clubs are willing to pay €150 million for Guler if he continues his current trajectory. This interest has not gone unnoticed by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who has reportedly refused the touted record bid for the young star.
Arda Guler made his Champions League debut for Real Madrid this season and has already caught the eye of Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta. Berta may break the club's transfer record again to secure the signing of the teenage sensation.
Arsenal first opened talks with Guler three years ago during his time at Fenerbahce. Now, they are set to pay a club record fee to sign him from Real Madrid. Guler would stylistically most suit Martin Odegaard's role in the Arsenal side, making him a valuable addition to Mikel Arteta's team.
Fenerbahçe and Serie A team Juventus Turin have also engaged in a duel for the signing of Guler, but it appears that Arsenal are in pole position to secure his signature.
Ethan Nwaneri, another promising young talent, is already on Arsenal's books and is the deputy of Guler at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners have signed five new players over the summer, including Cristhian Mosquera, Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, and Martin Zubimendi.
Arsenal won their Champions League match against Athletic Club 2-0 earlier in the day, and the addition of Guler could strengthen their squad further as they look to challenge for honours in the coming seasons. Real Madrid, on the other hand, are bracing themselves for Guler to become the subject of another Premier League transfer saga.
