Governor Siminalayi Fubara Returns to Rivers State as Emergency Rule Suspended

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, returned to his home state on Friday, following the suspension of the emergency rule that had been in place for six months. The suspension was announced by President Bola Tinubu on September 17, 2025.

Fubara's return was met with jubilant chants from his supporters who had gathered hours earlier at Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa. Among those present to receive the governor were Barr. Emma Okah, a former Commissioner for Information and Communications, and Sydney Gbara, a former Commissioner for Environment.

Other dignitaries who welcomed Fubara back included Chisom Gbali, a former Commissioner for Youths, and Evans Bipi, a former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development. Victor Oko-Jumbo, a former factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, was also present. Oji Ngofa, a former Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, was part of the receiving party.

The emergency rule was declared in response to the political crisis between Governor Fubara and Minister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. However, no details about the current state of their relationship were provided.

Despite the suspension of the emergency rule, no information was available about the next steps in governance for Rivers State. Similarly, no details about the video mentioned in the context of the political crisis were provided.

In addition, no information was available about Sara-Igbe, Somebody Who Is Not From Rivers, or Ibas. The website or Polance Media Inc. were also not mentioned in the context of the returned governor's reception.

President Tinubu's suspension of the emergency rule preceded Fubara's return to Rivers State, marking a significant step towards the restoration of normal governance in the state. As Fubara takes up his duties once again, the people of Rivers State look forward to a peaceful and prosperous future under his leadership.
